The problem
Ciğer-i Âlâ is one of Istanbul's long-established restaurants. Orders were taken entirely by phone and written down on paper. It was hard to keep track of which order had gone to which courier, and complaints about wrong orders and late deliveries were growing. Every change to the menu meant a new print run.
The solution
We put QR menus on the tables, so customers always see the current menu on their own phones. For courier orders, we built a tracking screen that shows whether each order is received, being prepared or out for delivery, all on one screen. Menu changes are now made in the dashboard, with no need to reprint. We also built a website that tells the restaurant's story and shows its menu.
About the project
In the Ciğer-i Âlâ project, we took on a restaurant's day-to-day work, from orders to the menu, all at once. For the menu, we set up our own QR menu system, masada.tr; on top of that we added the restaurant's website and custom software to track courier orders.
The QR menu opens in the phone's web browser, so customers don't need to download an app. Price and item changes made in the dashboard show up on the menu right away. On the courier screen, every order is tracked through the received, being prepared, out for delivery and delivered stages; the kitchen, the register and the couriers all see the same information.
In the end, menu printing costs disappeared, the status of every order became visible at any moment, and delivery complaints went down. Restaurants and cafes that need a similar system can write to us.
